Specialist safeguarding for designated lead in ELT (formerly level 3)
14:00 - 17:30 | Online via Zoom | Presented by Barbara Lewin
This training is tailored for English language teaching (ELT) providers, whether your centre is for juniors only or is a year-round adult school that takes some 16 and 17 year olds. Using practical exercises, including ELT case studies, trainees will better understand the types of safeguarding issues they may face and how to deal with them.
This session will be delivered on Zoom as an online tutorial. You will be sent the links the day before the training.
The Accreditation UK Scheme requires every member organisation to have sufficient staff trained as Designated Safeguarding Leads so there is 24x7 cover. At least one of these should be from the organisation’s SMT so that responsibility for safeguarding is understood from the very top. The DSL takes the main role in the organisation’s safeguarding provision.
Safeguarding legislation and terminology differs in each of the countries of the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). The focus of the training will be on legislation and terminology in England. Delegates from Scotland are advised that safeguarding provision there differs substantially and separate training is available from English UK.
